OUTSIDE THE BOX

Stacey Solomon shows off son’s Jurassic Park-themed packed lunch – but fans say it’s an ‘overwhelming amount of food’

AS we’re sure all mums will agree, there’s nothing like a picky eater to make you think outside of the (lunch)box.

Despite the fact that she’s a huge celebrity with almost three million followers on Instagram, Stacey Solomon has revealed she also struggles with this all too common problem – and has gone above and beyond to get her seven-year-old son Leighton to eat his lunch.

Earlier this week, the devoted mum-of-three filmed herself putting away the impressive Jurassic Park-themed she prepared for her second son – which she had to squeeze into three different compartments in his lunch bag.

Sharing the clip with her 2.8m followers, the star explained: “Middle pickle [Leighton] is not eating his lunch at lunch time.

“I think it’s because he’s too excited to get out and play so I’ve tried to make a fun Jurassic Park lunch today and told him he gets a sticker if he gives it a good go.”

Along with chopped celery, cucumber slices, grapes and bits of melon cut into flowers, the devoted mum also prepared two different types of sandwiches for Leighton.

Stacey made salmon and cream cheese on white bread as well as ham sandwiches lovingly cut into the shape of dinosaurs.

And to top it all off, Stacey also managed to squeeze in a packet of crisps, some dried fruit and a smoothie into Leighton’s space-themed lunchbag.

But although fans were impressed by Stacey’s impressive spread, the star mentioned on her Instagram stories a few hours later that people had accused her of going overboard.

She said: “[I’ve had] so many nice messages about packed lunches. Loads of you are like, ‘that’s way too much for a packed lunch.’

The star later revealed fans had said it was an ‘overwhelming amount of food’

“I know! The thing is, I try and encourage him to make it with me and do stuff and tell me what he loves and then he’s like, ‘I’ll have some melon, some salmon, some grapes.’

“So I just put it all in there and hope that he’ll eat a little bit of everything. But maybe I’ll cut it down a bit.”

Last week, the star revealed she even leaves secret notes in Leighton’s lunchbox to stop him from just eating the crisps.

The mum-of-three – who welcomed her third son Rex with partner Joe Swash last year – lives in Essex and shares Leighton and Zachary, 11, with her ex-partner Dean Cox.
